Kamagra is one of the best generic Viagra medications. This drug is an exact copy of Viagra but costs much less. Furthermore, in comparison with Viagra Connect, a 30-pill box of Kamagra tablets costs about £45.
Over the past few years, in the United Kingdom (UK), sales of prescription medications to treat erectile dysfunction have tripled, suggesting that this segment of drugs is experiencing increasingly high demand.
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency said that UK has become one of the first countries in Europe where drugs for erectile dysfunction can be purchased without a prescription.
Pfizer’s (New York, NY, USA) patent for Viagra ended in 2013 and, since then a number of competitors have been introduced to the market.
The first drug, which doesn’t require a prescription, Viagra Connect, went on sale this past spring. However, its price is overwhelming, with a package of eight tablets being sold at a minimum amount of £20.
With this in mind, how does Kamagra differ from the usual Viagra and what should its potential customers take into consideration before starting to take this medication?
Kamagra and Viagra: what’s the difference?
Both of these medicines contain the same active substance (sildenafil citrate) but in different doses.
Sildenafil citrate is an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5, whose effect is that it (by blocking a certain enzyme) expands blood circulation in the pelvic organs and thereby contributes to achieving an erection.
The usual Viagra is sold in tablets of 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg (in blister packs of 4–16 tablets).
Viagra Connect is only available in the dosages of 50 mg and 100 mg.
Who is recommended to take Kamagra?
Kamagra is a drug recommended exclusively for men with erectile dysfunction.
It is not recommended for adolescents under 18 years (and these individuals still cannot buy it without a prescription in UK pharmacies), but women are able to buy it for their partners.
It is also not recommended for men who, due to health reasons, should not have sex (e.g., those who have serious cardiovascular diseases).
As a general rule, men who begin to suffocate when performing simple physical exercises, such as, for example, when climbing stairs, should not take this drug for erectile dysfunction.
How and where to buy Kamagra?
You can buy the drug in most online pharmacies, but it won’t be just lying on the shelf like aspirin commonly is.
Instead, it will be necessary to approach the pharmacist and ask them to give you the drug, and the pharmacist may ask you some questions to make sure that you are not contraindicated to take it.
How effective is this drug?
Research has sown it successfully mitigates erectile dysfunction.
The use of sildenafil citrate promotes an expansion of the blood vessels, increased blood flow to the penis, and the achievement of an erection in response to sexual stimulation.
It should be noted that the drug itself cannot bring on an erection if there is no sexual stimulation occurring.
Kamagra can be taken without regard to food intake. However, its effect can be slowed down if taken immediately following a heavier meal.
This drug should be taken about an hour before sexual intercourse for the ideal effect.
It is recommended to take no more than one tablet of 50 mg per day.
Importantly, drinking alcohol can make it difficult for an erection to be achieved, even when using this medication.
What if the erection lasts too long?
There have been rare cases reported in which men taking this medication mentioned a painful or excessively long erection lasting more than four hours.
If this happens to you, it is advised that you contact your doctor immediately.
What side effects may occur?
The most common side effect, which may occur in more than one person out of 10, is a headache. Additionally, effects that may occur in less than one out of every 10 cases include dizziness, blurred vision, face redness, nasal congestion, nausea.
Patients should stop taking the medication and seek medical help immediately upon experiencing the following side effects:
- pain in the chest
- sudden deterioration or total loss of vision
- allergic reaction (characterized by shortness of breath; wheezing; edema of the lips, eyelids, or entire face)
- cramps or loss of consciousness
Interaction with other drugs
Patients taking antianginal drugs against stenocardia should not take Kamagra.
The same suggestion applies to those who use stimulants (so-called “poppers” such as amyl nitrite) for recreational purposes.
Simultaneous administration of Kamagra with riociguat and/or with antiretroviral drugs is not recommended.
When buying Kamagra, it is recommended to inform the pharmacist of all of the medicines that you take on a regular basis so that they can let you know of any potential issues.
Sometimes, erectile dysfunction can be a symptom of a different disease, for example, cardiovascular or diabetes, so, if the problem persists following six months of taking Kamagra, it is worthwhile to see a doctor.
Can I buy Kamagra on the Internet?
Some UK online pharmacies will sell this drug over the Internet following an online consultation.
